It’s time for changes! We have just received confirmation that the name of our Foundation has been officially changed. It’s a symbolic, yet very important step for us. With this change, we close one chapter and open a new one.

We believe that one of our strengths is living with the flow – welcoming change, letting go of what is no longer alive and following the call of what is. Our Foundation has been evolving together with us, and today is the moment to honour another piece of transformation and give us a new name. The process has been unfolding for quite some time, and now, with renewed energy, it has finally materialised and we are officially Foundation RE.

For many years you knew us as Galician Foundation of Development and Education. Our Foundation was born in Beskid Niski, which at that time was the centre of our lives. This connection was there from the beginning. The Foundation was dreamed up and brought into the world among the beautiful forests of Beskid Niski mountains accompanied by cups of thyme tea from its meadows. For many years we supported local initiatives, explored local history, listened to the stories of this land, delved into its nature and history with children, accompanied young people in discovering their talents and supported them in sharing their gifts with communities they lived in. We were travelling a lot but each single time we were coming back there. So many memories, stories, dreams about the change, friendships and relationships were born there.

In recent years, our focus has shifted. Beskid Niski is no longer the centre of our universe – even though it forever holds a special place in our hearts and we hope to keep returning. Our activities have become more international and our focus now centres more strongly on dialogue, Nonviolent Communication and facilitation. Our mission and our dream remain the same – a world in which all needs matter – but the ways we realise this vision continue to evolve and change – as we evolve and change.

The concept of Foundation RE emerged during our search for the new name. The “RE” refers to the Polish words rozwój i edukacja (development and education) that formed the core of the previous name, maintaining a connection with the organisation’s origins. At the same time, “RE” carries connotations of change and transformation – values that are central to the our work. Words such as REthink, REimagine, REconnect, REcreate are coming to our mind. Each of these words (and the list is not finished!) reflects what we value, and what we hope to nurture through our work. Our dream is to create spaces where change can happen, transformation becomes possible and we can reconnect with each other and with ourselves to create the world where all needs matter.
